Active Share Ownership Handbook

Eurosif’s first official publication to help institutional investors better manage ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) risks across Europe.

Following the 2004 SRI Toolkit for institutional investors, Eurosif focused research on what investors can do to better manage ESG risks when they own stocks in companies. Active share ownership in Europe is a moving landscape and ESG risks are not perceived uniformly by companies and investors. The context (financial, cultural and legal) in which investors operate differs by country. Shareholders do not have the same rights across borders as governance rules change from country to country. Meanwhile, European legislators are moving to streamline these rules. The handbook is a concise take on this issue.
